Join our past speaker from September 2023, Carol Ziogas, to learn the techniques of the Japanese needle art of sashiko.
According to the Craft Atlas:
"Sashiko (literally “little stabs”) is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. Traditional sashiko was used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches. Today this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives sashiko its distinctive appearance, though decorative items sometimes use red thread."
This class is suitable for both beginning and experienced hand stitchers.
Class fee does not include supplies. Registrants will be required to purchase a supply kit for $20, payable directly to Carol on the day of the class.
