MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS

Workshops are learning opportunities led by guild members who wish to share their skills and ideas.

Workshops are the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 9 am, and generally go from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The fee for each workshop is $15 per person for GQCCC members, $20 for sister guild members, and $25 for non-members. There may be an extra materials cost if you do not already have what is required in your stash.

Registration opens 60 days prior to the workshop date. Payment reserves your spot in the class. Workshops payments are non-transferable. Non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be charged a slightly higher fee. Registrants may cancel up to 14 days before the class.

Payment confirms your registration and reserves your space in the workshop. You will be sent the via email the workshop supply list and, if applicable, connection information for Zoom.

The workshop may be cancelled if there are not enough registrants. The minimum number of participants varies by workshop.

In-person workshops are held at GQCCC’s Farmhouse location, 5554 Clayton Rd, Ste. 4, Concord, CA.

If you have a skill or a technique that you would like to share with the membership, please contact the Workshop Chair.

This workshop is an introduction to creating simple mini-landscape fabric art by using a layered topstitching technique.  The little hills and valleys in the scene are quick and easy to make: no templates and no fuss with rotary cutting and topstitched edges.  Personalize your Tuscan landscape by adding collage details such as a stucco villa, cypress trees, and vineyard details.  The possibilities are endless, just like you imagination.  The piece will measure approximately 8" x 12" without borders.

Everyone will receive a kit with the fabrics needed for the hills, house, trees and sky, and you are welcome to bring your own as well.  The workshop will focus on piecing the landscape and learning the technique with an eye towards topstitching to your heart's content.  Embellishments and quilting can be added as you wish.

Does sewing a curved block have you chasing your own tail? Going around the bend? Circling the drain?  It's amazing how many English idioms equate curves with chaos!  Well, lets turn that truck around!

Join us for a morning of laughter, chatting, noshing, and learning how to make dynamic, curved-pieced quilts using a special ruler and trim down method.

Using the Sew Kind of Wonderful Quick Curve Ruler and their  Chic Country pattern, we'll create one unit in the workshop to complete an 18" pillow top.  Once you learn what dynamic results you can get from such a simple process, your mind will be spinning with inspiration!

Each participant must have their own pattern and ruler, see supply list for details.
