    Hello GQCCC Members!
Our quilting community is at risk of losing the California Stare Fair as an important venue to show off the art of quilting and other crafts.  They have said if entry numbers don’t improve, they will be canceling the crafts exhibits permanently.  If you value keeping our art form alive, you can help keep this important venue open by entering a quilt or crafted item.

Our member, Kris Cisse has offered to deliver your quilt to the fair and pick it up when the fair is over.  All you need to do is enter your items online before 11:59 on May 15, 2025, and coordinate delivery details directly with Kris.

The following note from Kris has all the details:

Here is how you can help:
Enter your crafted arts into the California State Fair this year. It is critical to have a good showing this year with crafts. Check out all the divisions - perhaps you can enter into knitting, crochet, embroidery or apparel divisions.

The entry fee is $15 per item. Know that it would be kept in Sacramento for up to two months as part of the process for the Acceptance, Judging, and Showing

    My Offer to GQCCC Members:
I am willing to take members’ items to Sacramento to Cal Expo to drop off and pick up. GQCCC members will need to contact me directly to make arrangements if you are interested in this offer. You will need to write a letter of authorization to name me as the designated drop-off/ pick-up person (see that section in the guidelines, reference item 6.) I would need items before May 30th.

    Entry Guidelines:
Read the guidebook for entries. Make your entry online, and make payment.
The website URL with downloadable guideline is on the State Fair website.  Click Here for info

One of our small groups - the Quirky Quilters Crew - will be collecting fabric scraps at the Farmhouse on Tuesday, March 11th, from 10:30 to 4:00 pm.  One of the members will see that the scraps get delivered to a group in Fremont who provides them to automotive manufacturers, who then shred the scraps and use them for padding in the headliners of new cars.  This helps keep some fabric out of the land fill, which is a good thing.

Please note - this is a one-time event on the date and time above.  Please do not deliver or leave scraps at the farmhouse other than at the time specified above.

According to a couple of news sources yesterday, Joann's in Concord is closing permanently soon. They have not said exactly when, but one source said they might begin their "Going out of Business" sale as soon as this weekend.  If you planned on shopping there anytime soon, you might want to get over there and shop while you still can.

The flyer for the upcoming Quilt Show is now available.  You can download it to your own computer/phone by clicking here and saving it to your own device.  Attach it to an email and send it to your friends and family to help promote the show.

Your help is invaluable.   Word of mouth advertising is the most effective thing we can do to get people to come to the show, and good attendance means more income to support all of our fun Guild activities!
